I have this feeling of happiness right now, and it’s really because of hip-hop. Watching the Odd Future performance, listening to Black Thought talk about his upcoming solo EP, hearing the new Cunninlynguist single, watching the promotional video for Illmatic – they just make me feel really good.
So my question to you – what are some things that remind you why you love H.E.R? Post a link of some sort, if possible..
Chosen Answer:
Can you gimme that link for that promotional video? I really wanna see it.

I don’t “love” hip hop and nobody else should either.

^^^ Having to live in that makes me love hip hop more than anything. It’s an escape.
EMINEM, KID CUDI, TUPAC, LUPE FIASCO, and yes the Young money crew can dish out some good songs too.
Hip hop can take any genre and mix it into a beat, then throw on a good singer for the hook and have someone like Eminem tear up the verse with rhyming lyrics that you can relate to. Its the best genre in my mind thanks to its Versatility.
Kid Cudi is alternative rock and but he is hip hop as well. He mixes them together and makes great music.
Not to mention, that Eminem did have the best grammy preformance this year. I think he should preforme ‘Sing for the moment’ with Lead zeplin some time, that would be amazing.
the wordplay..
wu tang clan – three.
perfect example..
all that kid cudi, young money crap makes me forget
about hip hop though..

The first song on the first album i ever bought. What started it all, and ignited my love for music.
Genesis – The coming into being of something; the origin.
I used to love H.E.R.
Then I saw her die. If you’re like in the 15-24 age range, then you grew up with crap dominating both the mainstream and underground compared to what it used to be. So you’re starting out with crap and then as you learn more about it, you go back into the 90′s and then the 80′s and discover all this great stuff. But for someone who grew up in those eras, it’s almost like a hatred now for how bad things got. It’s an upgrade to look back and discover people like Black Thought for the first time. But for me, I grew up with The Roots and it’s not the same anymore, the entire atmosphere in hip hop is different now and it’s a major downer.

When i see dat Puerto Rican girl and my thoughts come out as rhymes
i don’t even really know how to describe it. i guess i just love all the aspects that go into making hiphop. the production, lyrics, flow, everything. at the same time it pisses me off how some people look at hiphop with such an ignorant view. i don’t care if you don’t like the music, but there’s no need to basically make it sound the worst thing that’s happened to music when they have absolutely no knowledge of the genre.
i guess i kinda see it as a way to separate myself from most people. i’m one of very few people that listens to the artists i listen to. a good 50% of my itunes library is completely unknown to most people i know. and while i like when i meet another person with the same taste, i kinda feel like i can use it as a way to break off from the world and sometimes that really helps me.
on a side note, i REALLY wish i was good at rappin. i feel like it would take my love of the genre to a whole new level.

Gonna sound weird but when im in the car n a song sounds perfect in my system. Bass knockin but not rattling just smooth n the lyrics r gangster as f’ck n I just kinda lean back I love that feeling.
camron- losin weight pt 2 n shook ones 2 always make me feel that way.
When I hear a really good verse or beat and say, “I’m glad I listen to hip hop otherwise I would never have heard this!”
